Hi Christine: I hear you are all off to China. Lucky you! Your mom is real excited. Dick and I went through Ryan at China Highlights and we were more than satisfied. They did a wonderful job for us. They supplied a driver and English-speaking guide, and a wonderful car (with seat belts). We went every other day rather than every day - and it worked out great. Our guide picked us up at the appointed time each day. She was always there - we were driven right up to the gates, etc. Very very good service. You can plan what you want to do with Ryan - they also have service in Shanghai and the outer places. He was really good to work with. Don’t forget the duck dinner. It was wonderful - a real treat. Tell Ryan I said "HI". Oh Yes - they picked us up at the airport and delivered us back there at the end of our trip. We stayed at the Peninsula Palace which is the best in China. It might be too steep for you as you will be going in regular season, but give it a try - ask them for their specials. It’s really a wonderful place. If you don’t stay there, at least try to eat there. There is a Korean Hotel (I think that’s the name) across the street. It’s much cheaper, but not as elegant. This is walking distance from the Forbidden City and just a block from wonderful shopping. Look it up on the net. I worked through the following address - laurel@peninsula.com. She will help you.
